Steps to Set Up the Digital Wallet
Follow these steps to get started with your digital wallet in the Govt.nz app:
- Download the App: Install the Govt.nz app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Set Up Digital Wallet: Open the app, go to the “Digital Wallet” section, and follow the on-screen instructions to configure your wallet. Ensure your device supports biometric authentication (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) to add a layer of security.
- Add Digital Credentials: Starting mid-2026, accredited digital credentials issued by government agencies will become available. Select the credentials you want to add and securely store them within your wallet.
- Manage and Share Credentials: Access your stored credentials anytime via biometric authentication. When required, share these credentials securely with trusted organisations either online or in person by selecting the desired credential and following sharing prompts.
